Its hard to be a Rambler
by Gypsy

Seriously… It’s hard.. Especially when you have to fill out all this paperwork.
I bought my camper from a REBEL. You know what I mean?
This guy hardly had teeth, let alone a title! And of course I didn’t get many details.
So, I’ve stopped by the DMV and picked up a MVR-4 form where if I can track down the previous title owner - they can sign the trailer over to me. and then I can wait 15 days (at which point I will be in AUSTIN TEXAS SANS CAMPER) to hear back. And I also picked up some paperwork about filing an Indemnity Bond.
I rewatched Into the Wild the other night on TV and saw the part where he tries to get info about kayaking down the river and learns he must apply for a registration, and the waiting list is 15 years. Seriously…. you have to wait 15 years for permission to kayak down a river. Naturally he got a boat and threw in the water and climbed in. AND AS MUCH as I think it would be amazing to follow suit, and silently cruise through the SouthEast running from the LAW, towards the romantic sunset with my unregistered Vintage Shasta Camper Trailer - I’m sure it would go more like uh………… We get a flat, I call triple A, meanwhile a cop stops by to see if its okay and then berades me as to why I don’t have paperwork for my P.O.S. camper and then slaps me with a $800 fine and makes me abandon my dream, right there on the side of the road for a more resourceful rambler to pick up, renovate and live out of.
So I blew it for this trip. More to come on how all this pans out. Really?
Okay, I’ll start with researching the Yahoo Shasta Group. There must be a process for a titleless camper trailer.
